Purchasing Manager

Location; Havant

Mon- Friday 40 hrs per week (0800-1700)

25 days holiday entitlement plus Bank Holidays

Working on behalf of an established Maintenance firm based in Hampshire, we are looking to identify an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee the purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure that Companies operational needs are met

Key duties will include:

  • Liaising with key employees to determine their product and service needs.
  • Purchasing goods, materials or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets, negotiating terms with suppliers and maintain pricing files.
  • Conducting research for and source new/alternative products and suppliers in line with requirements requested by the client and Comserv, offering innovative solutions that will keep us ahead of our rivals.
  • Negotiating contracts, improving prices and terms of business with suppliers and reviewing opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice methods.
  • Assisting with inventory management to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned requirements and report any back-ordered, missing or damaged materials
  • Overseeing the purchasing and issue of uniform and PPE.
  • Overseeing the control of plant equipment and ensure maintenance and repairs are undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
  • Compiling data relating to purchase and order activity, supplier performance and any other metrics required.
  • Supporting the management team by communicating any supply problems which may impact on business operations or any opportunities that may assist the business.
  • Creating policies and procedures for ethical procurement and risk management & mitigation.

The ideal candidate will hold:

  • Chartered Institute of procurement & Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification, or studying towards CIPS qualification would be beneficial
  • Previous experience in a purchasing role
  • Good knowledge of stock replenishment systems and supply chain management and logistics
  • Financial and accounting knowledge for understanding margins, discounts and cost breakdowns
  • A full, clean Driving Licence
