Surface Mount Technology Technician
Dover
Permanent position
Monday - Friday
37 hours per week
£24,000 - £28,000 depending on experience, an extra 10% shift allowance for adhoc night shifts
The Surface Mount Technology Technician role is working in a fast-paced manufacturing department for a multinational company in electrical test equipment.
As a Surface Mount Technology Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Driving overall productivity, efficiency, and quality levels within the SMT cells and work with supporting personnel to maximise output, driving continues improvement,
- Setting up all necessary equipment and carrying out necessary checks before operating the SMT machinery. Duties include machine operation, setup, line maintenance, training and helping operators on machine operation and setup, and ensuring correct programming during production runs,
- Developing, maintaining, and fine-tuning programming for all equipment used in SMT, related machines used for circuit board assembly (pick & place, screen printer, oven and AOI) as and when required,
- Checking production documentation, and liaising with Quality and Engineering on SMT queries,
- Carrying out machine maintenance as needed and liaise with the machine supplier to resolve any complex issues.
Skills required.
- Ability to work with PC and software packages as the machines are all PC/bespoke software driven,
- Capability to learn how to program machines using these bespoke software packages,
- Have some basic electronics knowledge i.e., component recognition, hand soldering (training provided),
- Ability to understand technical documentation including bills of materials (BOMs), drawings and assembly instructions,
- Organisational skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team, with a proactive attitude,
- Ability to run automated optical inspection system to ensure good quality - full training to be provided,
- The ability to read ODB++ files and good analytical skills would be an advantage.
Hours of work
The successful applicant will be required to work day shifts on a rotation and night shifts when needed,
Shifts
Monday - Thursday: 06:00 - 14:00 or 14:00 - 22:00
Friday: 06:00 - 13:30 or 13:00 - 21:00
Night shifts will be 22:00 - 06:00 when required.
