We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, responsible for the Design and Development of subsea Power Feeding Equipment.
The PFE provides the line current to power undersea cable systems, generating High Voltage from a low voltage (48V) DC supply using Switched Mode Power Supplies with a long system life and high reliability.
Your role as a Mechanical Design Engineer will involve the generation, preparation & release of product documentation (such as specifications, drawings & files), physical modelling & prototyping of new designs, supporting product investigations and liaising with other Design & Production Engineers throughout the business.
As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you must be confident in the design of PFE using the following technologies:
- Custom equipment racks and sub-racks.
- High Voltage assemblies with insulation and galvanic isolation up to 20kV
- High current (>500A) assemblies
- HV safety and interlock systems
Candidates applying for the role of Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally possess experience in the following disciplines:
- Mechanical design tools - knowledge of CREO a major advantage
- Seismic protection
- Thermal management
- Compact packaging
- Safety principles and systems
- MS Office tools
Required Experience & Qualifications
Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
0 to 3 years industrial experience in relevant R&D, Industrial and/or manufacturing environment.
Good expertise of mechanical engineering principles with understanding of the electrical, electronic and software disciplines used in the overall equipment.
