Quality Assurance Engineer

North Greenwich

Long term ongoing contract

Limited and PAYE available

We are currently searching for an experienced Quality Assurance engineer for a multi national manufacturing company based in North Greenwich. Rates to be disscussed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the internal procedures and quality plans as defined.
  • Identify gaps relating to processes and implement procedural changes to reflect current practices which comply with internal, customer or certification requirements.
  • Take a proactive approach to quality control function with the focus to reduce inline inspection and delegate it to operation.
  • Capture data for the businesses Key Performance Indicators as defined e.g. NRFT.
  • Support and conduct audits - as required - product and process.
  • Responsible for documenting all operational & project concerns, issuing and managing the non-conformances for satisfactory response and closure - eg IR process.
  • Supporting / participating continuous improvement events within the business management system.
  • Supporting / participating in Lean / site improvements, e.g. Failure & Material Review Boards and Corrective action and problem-solving teams in line with the ASN processes.
  • Give guidance to the Operational and other quality staff on aspects relating to quality.
  • Responsible for release of Product Specifications, Test Instruction Sheets, TIS.
  • Responsible for release of Products with requirements - Certificate of Conformity for products from the business site, including delegating responsibility during absences.
  • Monitor and escalate, where necessary, internal product quality issues
  • Identifying internal departmental process improvements
  • Deliver internal training as defined by the quality organisation
  • Support production on all quality issues in a timely.
  • Work with the Engineering and other departments to ensure continuity and flow of production in a timely and effective manner
  • Support the organisations Culture change programme
  • Have a flexible approach to work and the ability to communicate at all levels, both externally and internally
  • Strong aptitude for motivating others and lead teams of people
  • Promote good ethical behaviour in the organisation
  • Handles pressure well and takes ownership
  • Take part in Internal audits and action any issues raised for areas of responsibility
  • Undertake training that is identified as a requirement of the role.
  • Participate and support companies Jidoka activities
  • Support Management Review activities
  • Undertake all other reasonable requests that are made by the role manager/acting manager or Directors.
  • At times of reduced department staff attendance there will be a need to be flexible and provide support outside of the normal tasks of the job to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • On occasions you maybe required to take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to training, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Have extensive experience in manufacturing environments.
  • HNC or above qualification - preferably related to industry.
  • Exposure to Lean practise.
  • Minimum 3-4 yrs facilitating multi-disciplinary teams in process improvement activities.
  • Good business acumen with a focus on business goals
  • Good problem-solving skills and an investigative mentality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proactive and highly motivated.
  • A self-starter.
